Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, public and private non-profit agencies; as well as federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance use among Taos County youth.
Reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.
It takes a whole community to create lasting change
Taos Alive Coalition wouldn't exist if it weren't for all the individuals and organizations that collaborate with us to create a drug free community.
What We are Currently Doing...
Currently, we are a small AND MIGHTY team of five incredibly dedicated and passionate members of Taos Alive. We offer an in school prevention program teaching Botvin's lifeskills curriculum to youth. We also use a "YES" program that helps directly link youth with opportunities in community to work and get involved with Taos County.
A really important component of our Coalition is our workgroups. We have monthly workgroups that target substances that are effecting Taos County. Work Groups are the action teams of Taos Alive committed to implementing the strategies defined by the coalition. Each Work force group creates their own initiatives determined by community needs in that specific topic. Want to get involved ?
